HENDERSONVILLE – Beech running back Ja’Sean Parks carried his team to a 39-22 victory at Shackle Island Friday night, as his 153 yards and two touchdowns propelled the Bucs past the Springfield Yellow Jackets for their fourth win of 2018.

“That was a big win for our seniors,” Beech coach Anthony Crabtree said of his team’s victory.

A fast start to the game, Beech and Springfield combined for 23 first-half points as the Yellow Jackets led 13-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Running back Tysean Jefferson led the Bucs in the first quarter with 33 yards and a touchdown, while Springfield’s offense ran through senior receiver Dayron Johnson.

No. 23 accounted for two Springfield touchdowns – a 6-yard slant and the other on a 92-yard kickoff return TD.

Beech claimed the lead for good with seven minutes left in the first half when Parks scored from 3 yards out and added the 2-point conversion for the 18-13 advantage.

Getting the ball to start the second half, Beech marched 53 yards on just six plays before Jefferson scored his second touchdown of the game from 16 yards out to push the Bucs in front 25-13.

The Yellow Jackets managed just three points on their next possession, despite having the ball inside the 10-yard line.

Once inside the red zone, the Beech defense reared its head, stopping the Jackets on three straight runs to force a 25-yard field goal with 4:58 left in the third quarter.

The Bucs flexed their muscles once again on the following possession, going 81 yards on 12 plays before Parks found the end zone for the second time from 3 yards out to give the Bucs a 32-16 lead just 48 seconds into the fourth quarter.

Forcing a Beech turnover on the next possession, Springfield’s Bryan Hayes and Keith Jones dominated the run game, rushing for a combined 55 yards before Jones’s 8-yard touchdown with 5:37 remaining cut the lead to 32-22.

Beech senior Aaron Foxx put the game on ice on the next offensive possession when his 7-yard touchdown plunge put the Bucs out in front by 17. The 39-22 victory for Beech moves the Bucs to 4-2, 2-0 overall and drops Springfield to 4-2, 2-0.

Beech will travel to Tennessee State University on Saturday, Sept. 29 for a Week 7 matchup with Hillsboro.

Springfield returns to region action Friday night when they host Montgomery Central for first place in Region 5-4A
