Lady Bucs blanked by Commando's 4-0
Hendersonville – It took the Lady Commando’s thirteen minutes to get one past Buccaneer keeper Natasia Jones when Liza Sircy blasted one from 25 yards out to make it 1-0 HHS. Both teams traded possession fairly equally but the Hendersonville squad got off several quality shots in the first 15 minutes.
As play settled down a bit HHS started to control the possession and Cookie Morgan made a nice individual move to knock one home from inside the 18 twenty four minutes into the contest and it was 2-0 Lady Commando’s.
“Hendersonville ran real hard in the attacking half, more than what we have seen this fall. We weren’t able to adjust well enough until halftime,” said Beech coach John Ferguson. “They punished us for the mental errors we made early on.”
Sircy made it 3-0 taking a ball down the left side almost 30 yards and delivering a lazer from about 20 yards out with 12 minutes left in the first half. “Liza is fast, she is always beating people up and down the sideline, she had another great game tonight,” said HHS coach Devin Woodard.
Starting the first half play was again back and forth for a short while and then Beech took control in the Buc offensive half for about three and a half minutes creating several high quality scoring chances. The Lady Commando’s turned all shots away and the game then turned back to possession swap.
As the game wound down Campbell Tighe added another goal with 10 minutes left in the contest and the Lady Commando’s won 4-0. “We played pretty well, we have a tough season so far, so it was nice to come out and get some goals. I’ve been a player at HHS and an assistant for 10 years but it’s different as a head coach, it’s fun,” added Woodard.
Ferguson added, “we are closer, we are playing better, we had some freshman play well tonight but the mental errors got us tonight. The kids played hard, the effort was good and we just didn’t capatilize on our chances.”
