Lady Bucs shut out White House
Beech – 3 White House – 0
First half goals: Hailey Burroughs
Second half goals: Chloe Anderson, Emma Robertson
The Lady Bucs overcame a slow start and GK Grace Lawrence stopped a penalty kick in the first half to keep the Bucs unscored on in 2020. Freshmen made another big impact in this game, changing the energy when the came on in the first half. (A’mya Dobson, Delanie Nicholson, Anna Negus, Lily Keiser)
Beech started creating chances midway through first half. Burroughs scored after beating a pair of defenders on the right side of the 18, pinging a shot past the keeper off the back post and in.
Beech carried the game for most of the second half, failing to capitalize on multiple breakaways against WH’s high line. Chloe Anderson rounded the keeper and bundled one in along with a WH defender tracking back (both players and the ball ended up in the back of the net). Emma Robertson scored with a well-placed shot from 20 yards into the upper right corner.
Coach Ferguson said, " Always good to come to White House and get a win. We need to figure out a way to start faster than we do. I was very happy with our goalkeepers tonight. Grace kept us in the game in the first half, especially with the penalty kick save, and Natasia did a good job keeping the clean sheet. We have to do more with our chances in front of goal, but the fact that we’re creating those chances is promising.”
Next game: Tuesday, August 25 at home vs. Macon County. 7pm kickoff
