Lady Buc Soccer Dominates Heritage
Lady Buc soccer dominates Heritage
HENDERSONVILLE – The Beech Lady Buc soccer team played extremely well tonight in a 3-0 whipping of White House Heritage HS at Nathan Johnson Stadium. Heritage only managed six shots on the night with only two of them on goal. Beech had 15 shots with nine on goal.
“Tonight was the first real picture of what this team can be, White House Heritage is a good solid team. They’re tough and aggressive and we took ‘em out of the game by playing Beech possession soccer,” said Beech HC John Ferguson.
The Lady Bucs got on the board with twenty minutes left in the first half when Sydney Sandefur’s shot rebound to the foot of J.C. Swafford and into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The Lady Bucs had three previous attempts stopped earlier and the goal seemed to elevate the Lady Bucs play.
Just three minutes later Swafford added another goal inside the 18 to make it 2-0 Lady Bucs. The remainder of the first half (eleven minutes) played out like the first twenty… plenty of back and forth with no shot attempts.
The second half opened up looking like more of the same til the 44’ mark when Beech started to pepper shots on goal from everywhere. One of them, from Hailey Burroughs got by the Heritage goalie to make it 3-0 at the 48’ mark in the game. A minute later the Lady Bucs all but scored again as Burrough’s blasted a shot off the goalie and Swafford collected the rebound only to hit the right post.
White House, now in desperation mode, put a couple shots on goal but did not connect and from that point on there weren’t many more shot attempts by either team. The Lady Bucs get the shut out and improve to 5-5/3-0 in 9AA play. Heritage dropped to 7-3/2-1 with the loss.
“I feel like this is a signature win, Heritage is a definite contender in the district. We talked about transition and it was better, and we talked about not settling for bad shots and we didn’t… all of our goals were good shots. JC has a nose for scoring and Kendra Mueller played well. Hailey Burroughs and Sydney Sandefur had their best all around game of the year tonight as well,” added Ferguson.
Beech will play at Lebanon next Tuesday and at Greenbrier next Thursday.
