Round 2: Beech vs Hillsboro
BHS defeated Hillsboro 20-14 in week 7. The Burros have been a nemesis for the Bucs in recent years having eliminated the Bucs from playoff football in 2013 and ’15. This is a different Burro team however, as HC Craig Clayton resigned following the ’16 season. In five seasons at Hillsboro (2012-16), Clayton, a Caldwell County (Ky.) graduate, led the Metro Nashville school to a 43-21 (.672) record with a pair of state quarterfinal appearances and a Class 5A runner-up finish in 2014. Long time Metro coach Maurice Fitzgerald has taken over and the Burros are 7-4 this season after a first round mashing of Shelbyville Central.
Kaemon Dunlap was recently named a Mr. Football semi-finalist for 5A. Dunlap for 1834 yards and 26 touchdowns so far this season. The great thing is, he’s not our only weapon. Sophomore “Petey” Parks has ran for 500+ yards and Aaron Fox, Dyilin Hoosier, Chaz Williamson, Garrett Butler can all do damage in the run game. Senior QB Nelson Smith is more than capable throwing the ball throwing for over 700 yards and 10 TD’s with only 2 interceptions on the year. Hoosier and Ty Dean lead the receivers in catches/yards, but the Bucs have about 10 guys who can all catch the ball.
The winner of this game will most likely end up in Cookeville in the finals, it will be a very tough nosed, close game unless something crazy happens, which at this time of year, you never know. WE need all BUC fans to show up for this game as it could be an Instant Classic! See you on the hill Friday!!
